Manifiestosaurio

In late 2019, almost four years into La Compañiasauria, we felt the need to reflect on our own practice, our longings, our ideals, and whatever it was that kept us together. Readings such as Un habitar más fuerte que la metrópoli, Means Without End, and The Author as Producer accompanied us, but above all there were many discussions and many questions.

In a world marked by crisis and precarity, our most urgent questions were: How do we live together? How do we make theatre our form-of-life? How do we make sure our artistic, political, and ethical stances are not only part of a discourse, but run through our practice and its processes?

Hacer Compañiasauria (Doing/Making Compañiasauria) was the answer:

“We meet, we play, we make theatre, we go out partying, we dance, we steal wine and sweets, we find new friends, new refuges, new homes, we cry, we fight, and we also fall in love, we share bread, a bed, a joke, an affection. In other words, we do compañiasauria.”

Theatre as a form-of-life, and friendship as the main force guiding our ethical, political, and artistic becoming.

We developed a series of stage and literary explorations that allowed us to write a manifesto with many hands. We carried out some interventions with it, but in early 2020 the Covid-19 pandemic forced us to rethink our stages and turn the manifesto into a video essay.
